Information that’s good to know before you go
-
This is the information the reviewer wish they knew before they arrived.
Expect a lot of Fast Track shifts as a locum, but this can still include some seriously sick patients (lots of appendicitis, CHF with sats of 65% on air). Nights are busy, a lot of patients with reduced resources. . -
This is what the reviewer nominated as contributing to positive experiences at the placement.
Good support from specialist teams with sick patients - I have had 4 consultants (and the registrars) come in the middle of the night. There is a lot of pathology (good for the doctors, at least) There are a lot of regular shifts, and the 7 day block can.
-
This is what the reviewer nominated as contributing to negative experiences at the placement.
Some of my experiences with management have soured an otherwise good place to work. Local ED trainees seem to think a programme where they never work in Fast Track will prepare them for real practice. . - I will recommend this placement to my friends.
